25 Dec DICID has participated to the Qatar National Day celebrations 2016
The Doha Center for interfaith Dialogue took part to Qatar National Day celebration, in the cultural village, Katara, which falls on December 18 each year.
On 18 December 1878, Sheikh Jassem bin Mohamed bin Thani became the ruler of Qatar. With that, Qatar became a country with a vision… a country that would find unity, grow rapidly, and reach toward ever higher heights.
National Day, also known as Founder’s Day, celebrates the rise of Sheikh Jassem as the father and founder of the State of Qatar. It gives people an occasion to honor the history and identity of their country, and to commemorate those who have worked and continue to work to make Qatar a great nation.
The 18th of December is a special day – a day of unity for the people of Qatar. This is an occasion to strengthen the link with the Qatari heritage and tradition, through the presentation of diverse activities related to the national and folkloric events.
In this occasion, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the DICID, stated that the Center chose the slogan for this year is : “ Qatar a generous country”, to highlight what they offer Qatar endeavors and international and regional efforts towards the consolidate the meanings of brotherhood and sincere cooperation in all spheres of political, social and human life, and to emphasize the lofty Islamic meanings of peace brotherhood and love. In Addition to that, among DICID activities, was a small station to teach children how to grow, the center has also prepared a three-stereoscopic models bearing phrases Arabic and English :
Qatar gives Love – Qatar gives Peace – Qatar gives Friendship.
The cultural aspect that has characterized this year’s event was a presentation of a mini-library for children’s, where a number of free children books were, in the wing of the Ministry of culture. For his side the DICID has also distributed free English school book, in his wing to contribute to strengthen the reading among young people in Qatar.
National Day this year was under the slogan of Qatar solidarity to the Syrian people, and namely the population trapped in Aleppo, by setting up the fundraising campaigns, all over the country, for the benefit of Aleppo.
