11 Jul Talk of Dr Ibrahim Al-naimi in the Ramadan Green Tent Conference
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi presented a talk on Monday 12 June 2017, entitled “Dialogue and controversy etiquette “, within the Ramadan Green Tent conferences organized by The Environment friend association.
The talk started by enlightening the concept of Dialogue in Islam understanding, as well as its common meaning and dialogue skills. The aims was to present to the public a simplified idea of the issue , in order to open a discussion later.
In the second part Dr Ibrahim focused it talk on the contribution of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in that matter, through its vast experiences.
The DICID seeks, since its inception for constructive dialogue among followers of religions in order to better understand the principles of religious teachings to be harnessed to the service of humanity, based on mutual respect and recognition of differences, in collaboration with individuals and relevant institutions.
The vision of the DICID is being a role model to achieve peaceful coexistence among followers of religions and global reference in the ¬field of interfaith dialogue.
Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue aims to :
– To be a forum for the promotion of a culture of peaceful coexistence and acceptance of others.
– Activation of religious values to address the problems and issues of concern to human
– Expand the content of the dialogue to include aspects of life interacting with religion
– Expand the dialogue to include researchers, academics and interested in the relationship
between religious values and life issues
– To house expertise providing the scholarly, educational and training information in their respective fields.
Dr. Ibrahim noted that there are many other activities undertaken by the Center, both locally and internationally. On the local level, the Center regularly organizes courses for independent or private schools to train students and teachers in dialogue and communication skills with different religions and cultures. The Center also organizes educational lectures and round tables for resident communities, as well as the Adyan interfaith magazine, Newsletter Periodicals, brochures and posters related to the activities interfaith dialogue, as well as communitarian concern. In addition issues all available to researchers and visitors, as well as a rich library opened last year, which specializes in the study and comparison of religions and interreligious dialogue.
After Dr Ibrahim speech, the floor was given to the public to discuss on the issue of dialogue and the etiquette of the difference.
