05 May The Indian Youth Committee, in cooperation with the DICID, organizes the Doha Ramadan Meet for the communities
The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, in cooperation with the Indian Youth Committee, organized (the Doha Ramadan Meeting) under the slogan “We Stand United.” That or when, on Friday, 18 Ramadan 1442 AH – April 30, 2021 AD; Given the emerging conditions and precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
The activities and events under the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue for the month of Ramadan this year as well as last year differed greatly from that which it has always organized in cooperation with charitable institutions in Qatar such as the Qatar Charity and the Indian Youth Committee. And among the most important of these activities is the “Ramadan Gathering” which the center used to hold in one of the renowned clubs with about 2000 people in attendance, including religious scholars, officials of community organizations residing in Qatar, businessmen, scholars, academics, teachers, and groups of activists and media personalities, as well as the general membership of the Indian community, including groups of non-Muslims.
However, this year the “Ramadan Gathering” was held via a virtual meeting, which crossed borders and distance with the same aim along with the participation of influential personalities. It was attended by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue. Sheikh Yasser Al-Qadi and KT Abdul Rahman participated as speakers along with the Chair of the Indian Community Committee, Sheikh Ahmed Koti Toronto, Father Dr. Geevarghese Coorilos, Kerala State and Mrs. Raghad Al-Tikriti, London.
In his opening speech, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi said: “The center, under the supervision of the wise and rational leadership of the state, is always keen to organize various activities within the framework of highlighting the role of the center, which seeks to promote a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence between individuals and groups belonging to different cultures and religions, and holding such gatherings and on religious occasions. It contributes to highlighting the value of tolerance, love and compassion, which is considered the basis of religions, and then presenting a positive picture of the general values that these religions share.
Referring to the important role of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, Dr. Al-Naimi said: “The center pays great and genuine attention to the conditions of the communities residing in Qatar, as these communities have an important role in consolidating the values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance between communities on the one hand, and with the Qatari society on the other hand, Accordingly, since its establishment, cooperation with local communities has been the center’s top priority.”
It is worth noting that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is the leading institution in Qatar for interreligious and intercultural dialogue, and its main mission is to establish a culture of dialogue among followers of religions. For a better understanding of religious principles and teachings to use them to serve all humanity, based on mutual respect and recognition of differences.
The Ramadan meeting and similar programs, activities and events, especially in the month of Ramadan, reflect Qatar’s vision of treating all citizens and residents living on its land, integrating them and supporting them with their various religious and ethnic affiliations and cultures.
