14 Apr The Police Department together with the DICID held an awareness campaign on respect for religious and cultural diversity
In the context of promoting a culture of dialogue and peaceful coexistence between individuals and groups from different cultures and religions residing in Qatar, and in order to communicate and interact with the various groups in society, including groups of workers from different nationalities, and in order to consolidate participation between the police and society, the Police Department, in partnership with the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue held an awareness campaign on respect for religious and cultural diversity at the residence of Qatari Diar employees and workers (QD-SBG), on Sunday evening, April 10, 2022.
The meeting was attended by Lt. Col. Rashid Mubarak Al-Khayarin, Head of Awareness and Education Department at the Police Department, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahim, Acting Manager of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, as well as a number of company officials.
The meeting targeted about 500 company workers of various Asian and Arab nationalities. The Lt. Col. Rashid Mubarak Al-Khayarin explained that the campaign is part of the strategic plan of the Ministry of Interior and is in accordance of its main goal towards achieving security, stability and reducing crime rates. The administration’s key goals for its annual plan for 2022 is to reduce crime rates by raising awareness of the dangers of theft crimes and raising awareness of the importance of respecting religions and cultures.
He pointed out that the awareness campaign began with a visit to the headquarters of Qatar Diar, focusing on a number of axes, foremost of which is respect for customs and traditions, and awareness of theft crimes in the residential areas of workers, adding that the campaign will continue throughout the holy month to include a number of regions in the country.
In the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahim reviewed the importance of respecting cultures and religions, and the meaning of their differences, especially in the workplace, in addition to respecting the laws of the state and the necessity of mixing with other cultures and religions and accepting difference, and dealing with difference wisely and what unites people despite their differences.
He also stressed that such awareness campaigns intersect their objectives with Qatari efforts to promote coexistence and peace, and contribute to highlighting the value of tolerance, compassion and compassion in Qatar, which is a country of peace and tolerance for its citizens and residents despite the various nationalities and religions.
It is worth noting that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue pays great and real attention to the conditions of the communities residing in Qatar, as these communities have an important role in consolidating the values of peaceful coexistence and tolerance between the communities on the one hand, and with the Qatari society on the other hand and accordingly, since its establishment, cooperation with local communities has been a top priority for the center.”
