Prof. Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Chairman of DICID, is participating in the IRF 2022 Summit, which is taking place in Washington for three days. The activities of the Summit started on Tuesday, June 28, continued on Wednesday, and will conclude on Thursday, June 30, 2022. The event was attended by a large number of active individuals and bodies from civil society organizations, human rights institutions, academics, researchers, and a group of religious leaders and decision-makers in related fields.
The presence of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, embodied in the participation of His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, is indeed an asset to the event and a valuable contribution to the Summit; Due to the great influence and remarkable role played by DICID at the local, regional and global levels, as well as noting that the Center is the State of Qatar’s platform for religious Dialogue, religious freedom, and peace building and that the Center is the State of Qatar’s prominent interface for promoting the values of peace, tolerance, coexistence and spreading the culture of acceptance and pluralism, not to mention the Center’s remarkable contributions at the global level in recent years. In addition, the Center is a partner of this summit. Prof. Ibrahim Al-Naimi said, “It is very important to work on achieving the goals of DICID, as it is also necessary to highlight the role of the State of Qatar in the field of religious freedom. Accordingly, we are pleased to be a partner in creating a strong coalition with organizations that advocate for religious freedom worldwide and aim to raise public awareness of the international movement for religious freedom. Prof. Ibrahim added, “The importance of this summit is to look at the status of religious freedom in the world and create a platform for religious leaders, decision-makers, and civil society institutions to intensify efforts to maintain the positive points we have achieved so far on religious freedom and address the challenges that countries face on religious freedom.
This event of the International Religious Freedom Summit 2022 is about the report on religious freedom in the world and the characteristics of the countries of the world in creating an environment and regulations that allow all different parts of society, whether they are citizens or residents, to enjoy religious freedom, to follow and practice their faith and beliefs without coercion or persecution. Thus, the importance of this summit is not only for countries to recognize their efforts for religious freedom, but also to discover the latest research in this field to further develop religious freedom and reduce discrimination, hatred, persecution, and abuse of religion and religious symbols.
Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) has shared prominent messages recalling the typical efforts and activities it conducts. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi said in his message, “We look forward to expanding the scope of partnerships and making more efforts in collaboration with relevant organizations to create the widest possible alliance to consolidate the issue of religious freedom in all parts of the world.” He added, “Creating an environment of religious freedom consolidates peace, contributes to the rejection of violence and hatred, and assists to limit the phenomenon of insulting and offending religions, as we see from time to time in some societies. He added: ((There is no doubt that this will serve our own societies, the Arab and Islamic communities, I mean to preserve our religion in our societies and to ensure that Muslims abroad will have more freedom to practice their faith in other communities, and we, in turn, offer freedom to expatriates to practice their religion in accordance with the principles of our religion and the laws of the state)).
