11 Aug DICID Deeply Condemns the Massacre of the Refugee School in Gaza
Doha Center for Interfaith Dialogue condemns in the strongest possible terms the tragedy at a school turned refuge for displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, where more than 100 innocent people, including women and children, were cruelly killed. This tragedy calls into question our core values of compassion, humanity, morality and peace. It is a direct and blatant violation of the values of human dignity, equality, fairness and rights that promote peace and coexistence.
As an organization dedicated to fostering interfaith understanding and dialogue, DICID is deeply grieved by this senseless act of violence. The deliberate targeting of a place of refuge, where children and families sought safety, is a grave violation and betrayal of the moral and ethical teachings that are at the heart of every faith tradition.
As DICID completely condemns this tragedy, we urge religious and community leaders worldwide to join us in condemning it and amplifying the voices of peace, justice, and human rights preservation. Targeting refugees who want shelter and a new beginning fosters fear, bigotry, and prejudice.
For many years, Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue has been working to promote peace and prevent bloodshed and violence. It’s important to warn against the negative effects of violence, hatred, and attacks. Such behavior undermines our progress in peacekeeping and combating violence and terrorism over time.
At this critical juncture, we must reaffirm our commitment to the beliefs that define our sacred heritage. Let us work together to build a future in which everyone can live in peace and harmony.
