27 Nov DICID Organizes Interschool Debate Competition for Indian Schools
DICID (Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue) has organized an interschool debate completion for Indian Schools in Qatar focused on the important role of religion and religious values in promoting world peace. The competition is organized in association with Youth Forum, which will be held on November 25 at Ideal Indian School in association with Youth Forum.
Dr. Aaron Jacobson, PhD. a history instructor at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, will be the moderator in the competition. The topic for debate is: “Religion and its values play a vital role in promoting world peace – Do you agree?”.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghamidi, a Member of DICID’s Board of Directors, will attend the program as chief guest, Youth Forum officials also will attend the program. About 500 students from prominent Indian Schools in Qatar will participate in the debate competition. The winners of the debate competition will be recognized and appreciated in the closing ceremony held in conjunction with Inter School Competition organized by Youth Forum on the same day.
In a press release related to this program Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of DICID, said, “Since DICID started its activities, we have been remarkably active in organizing many diverse dialogue initiatives and seminars for expatriates in Qatar in association with different expat communities.
These communities play a significant role in promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence and acceptance both with one another and with Qatari society. The Interschool Debate competition is the latest example of such initiatives.”
