06 Jan DICID Statement Condemning Alexandria Church Massacre
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful
The Board of Directors of the Doha International Center for the Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) strongly condemns the recent terror attack on Coptic community in Egypt, and in response to this heinous terrorist attack, DICID issued the following statement:
On the first day of 2011 the evil hand proceeded on the bloody assault on innocent people in house of worship, the Saints Church in Alexandria. The brutal attack took number of innocent lives, injuring many others. We know that attacks of this kind are not new, they are just a part of series of attacks, including attacks on Christians in Iraq, and clashes between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria.
We at the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue strongly condemn this terror act; we condemn any attack on any religion in general in any form, by any one in any country. We also extend our condolences to the whole Coptic community, and its leaders.
The DICID emphasizes that the relationship between Muslims and followers of other faiths should not be based on conflict, hatred and insult, but on mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence which are governed by great diversity and equality.
We call for a constructive dialogue between followers of different faiths towards better understanding and harnessing of distinct religious principles and teachings to the benefit of all humanity, on the basis of mutual respect and acknowledgement of differences.
