15 Oct DICID to organise coexistence conference in Ukraine
Doha: Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) will organize on Oct. 17 and 18 an international conference in Ukraine under the theme of the role of religious values in promoting community stability and spreading a culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred” in cooperation with the Ukrainian Dialogue and Communications Center and the participation of a group of intellectuals and researchers from the three heavenly religions.
In a statement issued Saturday, DICID said the conference is an initiative to enhance dialogue among religions and reiterate the values of tolerance and coexistence, noting that the event touches on three main pillars; the role of religious values in disseminating the culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred, the role of religious leaders in raising generations to embrace dialogue and accept the other, and the role of governments in consolidating ties between followers of different faiths.
DICID said its Chairman Dr Ibrahim Al Naimi will present a working paper during the conference on the contributions of the State of Qatar and DICID in spreading the culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred, while DICID board member Mohamed Al Ghamdi will present another working paper on the role of religious institutions in enhancing the culture of coexistence and rejection of hatred.
Dr Al Naimi said that organizing the conference comes within the State of Qatar’s vision that reiterate the need for peaceful coexistence and rejection of violence and hatred among followers of different faiths, noting that DICID, through its cooperation with similar organizations, sends a message to the world that Qatar is a country that supports peace, rejects violence and terrorism, and stands side by side with the countries that suffer from terrorism.
