22 Aug Publication of issue 17 of the journal “RELIGIONS” The Identity of Human Nature and Transgenderism: (A Religious Perspective)
Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is glad to deliver its seventeenth issue, titled the Identity of Human Nature and Transgenderism: (A Religious Perspective), to its valued authors, readers, and all followers. RELIGIONS is a bi-annual, bilingual (English and Arabic) peer-reviewed journal for interfaith studies produced by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue that focuses on interfaith discussion and the relationships between Islam and other religions.
With the escalation of global campaigns advocating for homosexuality to be accepted, even welcomed and supported, and attempting to make it a human right, “Religions” chooses to address the issue of human identity in the world religion in this issue; the seventeenth, as an attempt of serious academic research to clarify religions’ positions on homosexuality. Perhaps it is necessary to explore this topic with the issue of transsexuality/transgenderism and religious attitudes toward it, in order to determine whether this transformation is a necessity or a type of sexual obsession disguised as freedom.

Contributions in English include Belonging to Opposite Sex: Islamic Perspectives on Gender Identity, authored by Abdulkareem Idris Aiyetoro, Sexual Reassignment Surgery: Revisiting Ayatollah Khomeini’s and Sayyid Tantawi’s Fatwas, by Adam Olowo, Andres Boaz Munoz Mosquera writes the Identity of Human Nature and Transgenderism: Through the Prism of Progressive Judaism, Christianity, Sexuality, and Postmodernity: The Case of Nigeria is another paper submitted by Enoch Olujide Gbadegesin, the Identity of Human Nature and Transgenderism: A Religious Perspective written by José A.
