12 Nov Visit of Ambassador of Tajikistan
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan HE Khisrav Sohibzoda, on Sunday, November 12, 2017.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Naimi welcomed to Tajik Ambassador and gave an overview of the activities of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, including the annual conference, round tables, training courses and cultural forums for various communities residing in Qatar. Which includes topics dealing with dialogue between followers of religions, as well as a library specialized in the studies of comparative religions and dialogue
HE Khisrav Sohibzoda praised the State of Qatar and the wise policy of the Qatari leadership, which has always supported peaceful solutions and dialogue. It has also offered its good offices to resolve the conflicts between the various parties around the world. He also expressed his country’s rejection of the unjust siege on Qatar. He also praised the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue Spreading the culture of peace and coexistence between religions and cultures, the pioneering role played by the Center since its inception, and its diverse and targeted activities for the peaceful coexistence and cooperation of followers of religions and the strengthening of human ties.
He pointed out that his country is seeking to build a cultural bridge with the State of Qatar, especially with the existence of several cultural centers in Tajikistan interested in studying dialogue. He mentioned that there are three main centers that share with the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue the vision and objectives. The Center for Strategic Research of the Presidency of the Republic, the Committee on Religious Affairs and the University of Islamic Sciences. The Ambassador expressed the wish of the heads of these centers to participate in the 13th Doha International Conference on Interfaith Dialogue.
For his part, Dr. Al-Naimi welcomed the participation of these centers in the upcoming international conference of the Center, which will be held in February next 2018. He also stressed that the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is fully prepared to open channels of cooperation with all those wishing to work together, Capacity, and to explore ways of reforming intercultural relations.
The Republic of Tajikistan is one of the first Asian peoples to embrace Islam, while The number of Muslims is 99%. It became independent in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In the 1990s it suffered from civil war and the rise of some extremist parties.
The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue is one of the leading Arab centers for interreligious dialogue and is active in its field, in cooperation with all relevant institutions, at the local, regional and international levels.
