24 Oct Visit of Bishop Camillo Ballin to the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue
The Bishop Camillo Ballin, from Bahrain, has visited the DICID, on Monday 17 October, and met Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al- Naimi, Chairman of Doha International Center Management for interfaith dialogue. Bishop Camillo Ballin is the Vicar Apostolic for the northern Arabian Peninsula (Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia), accompanied by the head of the Catholic Church in Doha, the Father Servraj Orukiam.
First of all , Bishop Camillo Ballin, expressed his pleasure and eagerness to visit Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, despite of his brief visit to Qatar, because of the important role an effective role of the DICID in building bridges among people and strengthening ties and deepening the dialogue between religions.
The discussions focused on the Catholic Church activities in the Arab countries, and its efforts to contribute to the efforts of dialogue and coexistence between different faiths. It was mentioned, the church active and constrictive participation in Doha interfaith Dialogue Conferences, from the beginning of the event.
From his part, Dr. Al-Naimi has emphasized the role of the DICID to pursuit of permanent promotion of the culture of peace and constructive dialogue between different faiths and its followers , and the rejection of intolerance, by activating the religious values to address the issues and problems of concern for humanity. The Chairman gave a short presentation of DICID’s activities, in particular the specialized newly created library.
Finally,the Bishop Camilo Ballini , presented the Cardinal Poupard’s institution, who is the founder of the Pontifical Council for Culture , and its main academic ongoing project, a translation of the dictionary of religions in two volumes , that highlighting the diversity of faiths and cultures.
