28 Nov Young leader’s delegation to the Doha Centre for Interfaith Dialogue
A young leader’s delegation from Europe and America visited DICID on 20 November 2016, an met with Dr. Ibrahim Saleh al-Naimi, the Chairman . After welcoming the delegation, presented by Dr. Ibrahim gave a short presentation of the DICID activities and including the annual International Conference for Interfaith Dialogue, Roundtables which discuss issues related to the local Communities in Qatar, the DICID’s interfaith studies magazine, “Adyan”. In addition to that DICID provide workshops targeting school students to train, educate and aware on dialogue skills, particularly the religious dialogue, so that can contribute to build bridges of communication, understanding, in order live with the acceptance and respect of the differences within ideas cultures and religions as well.
It is worth mentioning that this youth delegation leaders from Europe and America, and representing different areas of specialization, within the Alliance of Civilizations program , that aimed for deepening the mutual understanding between Europe, America and the Arab and Islamic countries, and such kind of cooperation will empower the young people in those countries, and the future leaders, to have a better understanding from different traditions within diverse civilizations, so to exploit that the differences between cultures and religions as a fruitful way for mutual enriching leading to establish a peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and cooperation among peoples
For their part, the youth delegation praised the center’s efforts to consolidate the culture of coexistence and dialogue between religions and values.
Then the members of delegations asked a number of questions related to DICID’s activities, and the role of Youth in particular.
In this regard, Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that the center has given a priority to the youth sector, and striving to involve regularly the young people in its activities; the tenth conference focused on that issue, and entitled “the role of youth in promoting the values of dialogue”, in addition that the different round tables, always included, aspects to youth, by focusing on communities residing in Qatar, which young people represent the majority .
