The Doha International Center for Interreligious Dialogue participated in celebration the Sports Day through a number of diverse sport events in cooperation with the North Atlantic College and the Netherlands’ Stenden University in Qatar, under the slogan : “Sports to promote Dialogue”. The event hosted by North Atlantic College, has witnessed different sports activities, in which took part a large public, citizens and residents .
The agenda of the events included many activities such as the debate sessions in Arabic and English, children playgrounds, as well as other sport activities in which took part students, visitors and officials. This day celebration is to promote diversity of culture, religions and coexistence among communities through sports spirit .
For this occasion, Dr. Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, stressed the importance of the sports day in promoting the culture of sport and health. He pointed out that the center cares about the occasion because sports as a tool for bringing people closer. The need to keep sport away from politics and consider it a cultural bridge that reaches, people from different religions, ideas and ideologies.
For his part, Yousef Al-Subaie, Executive Director of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, stressed the importance of the sports day of the state, as it contributes to community awareness of the importance of sport, especially that we are ahead of important sports benefits, notably the World Cup, it is an important aspect for everyone to live a balanced life.
The event included sporting events comprised several sport activities including among others : Handball, Football Basketball, and Fitness and other different games .
The event was attended by HE Dr. Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of the College of the North Atlantic, Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Durham, President of Qatar University, Dr. Khalid Al-Khater, Vice President for Financial Administrative Affairs, and Khalid Al-Khunji, Vice President of Qatar University for Student Affairs.
