04 May DICID condemns the terrorist attack on a church in Burkina Faso
“Whoever kills a soul only for spirit or corruption [is] in the earth – it seems as though he killed humanity completely, and whoever saves – as if he had saved mankind fully.” – Surah Al-Maida: 32
We have recently witnessed repeated terrorist attacks on worship places, targeting different religious communities, motivated by hatred and extremism. These horrific events have occurred in New Zealand and Sri Lanka and finally a church in Burkina Faso was among targeted places.
The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue/DICID strongly condemns the terrorist attack, having targeted a church in Burkina Faso, in 28 of April 2019, leaving 6 dead including a pastor, after Sunday services.
The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue profoundly rejects all those criminal acts that clearly offend the religious principles and values that consider the protection of human life as its main objective.
The DICID recalls the responsible authorities and religious leaders from all faiths to be unified against all forms of intolerance and hatred and call for love, tolerance and respect of worship places, religious freedom and human dignity.
The DICID expresses its full solidarity with the people of Burkina Faso in general and the Christian community in particular and offers its sincere condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured ones.
